About

Weathered Windows by Alice

Alice Bass has spent decades honing her craft as a graphic designer, but it was a chance encounter with a pile of forgotten windows that sparked an unexpected creative venture.

In 2015, while exploring a rural Manitoba train station long past its prime, she stumbled upon a pile of aged wooden windows—worn, weathered, and full of character. Their textures, imperfections, and history sparked an idea that would grow into Weathered Windows, a passion project where she gives these forgotten frames a second life through art.

Handcrafted Process

Each piece begins with a carefully selected vintage window, preserved for its character and history. The original frame becomes part of the artwork, bringing warmth, texture, and a sense of time-worn beauty to every creation.

Finishing Touches

From layered imagery to subtle colour transitions, the smallest details are thoughtfully considered. These fine touches invite a closer look and reveal new elements the longer you spend with the piece.

One of a Kind

No two windows are ever the same. Each finished piece is entirely unique, shaped by the original materials and inspired by nature, light, and movement — making it truly one of a kind.

Endless Possibilities

Each window offers a new canvas. Through different techniques, textures, and imagery, the same material can be transformed in entirely different ways — showcasing the versatility and creative range behind every piece.
